TSRT Membership:

1

What do those numbers mean to you? To me the 1 is each of as an individual and it starts with making a decision to be active and involved. Whether it is

·         mentoring new technologist

·         instructing students

·         developing new protocols

·         sitting on a board or committee

·         maintaining a web site

·         Just being available to step in where needed.

 It all starts with 1.

I would like thank Lois Lehman for her hard work and dedication over the last year as TSRT President, I would also like to thank the outgoing board chair Charles Washington and Vice President Cedric Jolivet for their continued dedication to the Radiological Sciences and the others that have served on the TSRT board over this last year as I have served as TSRT President Elect.  I look forward to working with Lynette, Chuck and Lisa on the many topics we will have to address.

I want to extend gratitude to the TSRT membership who have elected me to serve as President of the Texas Society of Radiologic Technologist and I want to serve you as TSRT members to help further the Radiological Sciences here in the great state of Texas

As we all know our profession is ever evolving and with that in mind, we as a society must be evolving to meet the needs of our members and potential members.  Within the last year, TSRT has started a Facebook page, posted You Tube videos and hosted a Webinar for a CE credit, hopefully in the coming year, we will be able to continue these avenues and even pursue other opportunities to reach out to the members and potential members. Some of these opportunities may include

·         Expanding educational opportunities

o        regional mini conferences

o        greater webinar offerings

·         More  effective communication to the member

o        listening and responding to member concerns

o        updated news letters

o        email communication

Call to action:

What can you do as a 1?

·         be active in local societies or areas

·         promote the TSRT to your colleagues

·         volunteer to speak at a conference

·         volunteer to be on a committee

·         post new ideas, protocols or events via Facebook

Conclusion:

Now back to those initial numbers

·         1-each as an individual

·         390-Technologist/Students registered at this Annual Meeting

·         1146-Active enrollment in TSRT

·         21,591-Technologist in Texas

·         300,000 –ARRT registrants

Respectfully submitted

Michael Hart, R.T.(R)(CV)(CT)
